Carmen Castañeda, Soil and Irrigation Unit researcher, has participated in the project Terrafirma Program "Global Monitoring for Environment and Security (GMES)" of the European Space Agency (ESA) and the results of the last five years are shown in Terrafirma Atlas.
This project seeks to create a European information service by remote risk of ground movement that will help save lives, improve safety and reduce economic losses as a result of land subsidence and landslides.
The attached document shows the contribution of CITA researcher that focuses on the documentation and study of the deformation of the ground as a result of mining activity, the dissolution of salts and sink holes.
